London: Hutchinson, 2016
8vo, pp. 289. Original black boards, lettered in gilt to spine. Illustrated endpapers. Illustrated dust jacket, author’s photographic portrait to rear flap. A fine copy in a fine dust jacket.
First edition, INSCRIBED BY HARRIS TO HIS LONG-TIME PUBLISHER SUE FREESTONE: ‘To Sue with much love from Robert 3 Sept 2016’. Recently filmed to great acclaim by Edward Berger from a screenplay by Peter Straughan, with a cast including Ralph Fiennes, John Lithgow and Isabella Rossellini.
Sue Freestone was publishing director at Heinemann, Hutchinson and Quercus over the course of a distinguished career, and guided the early -- and then mature -- careers of many authors who became best sellers. A well as Harris, her list included Douglas Adams, Stephen Fry and Sebastian Faulks, and she also saw into print books by political figures, among them Alastair Campbell, Tony Benn and Bill Clinton.
A very fine copy.
