The inscription on the verso of what is the front leaf on this copy reads: 'Julian Glover with love from Robert Graves 1943'. The actor Julian Glover, son of Gordon Glover and Honor Wyatt, was eight years old when this volume was presented to him, which perhaps explains its condition.

An unprepossessing copy, but a nice association.
