Writing under the pseudonyms Miles Burton and John Rhode, the ridiculously prolific Cecil Street [1884-1965] produced four detective novels a year for thirty-seven years. All but two of the Miles Burton novels feature Inspector Arnold and Desmond Merrion as the sleuths; this is a late entry in the canon of more than sixty titles, and a near fine copy.
