First US edition. Preceded by the UK edition published earlier the same year with the title The Gold Comfit Box.

The fifth of seven Williams titles featuring the German spy Dr. Adolph Grundt, better known as Clubfoot.

Scarce in the dust jacket, and a very well preserved copy.
