London: Hutchinson, 2006
8vo, pp. 103. Original brown boards, lettered in red to spine, with dust jacket device in red to front panel. Red endpapers. Illustrated dust jacket. Some unobtrusive historical water damage to boards, hence very slightly bowed, a little bleed from red endpaper to half-title, a very good copy in a fine dust jacket (which escaped the deluge).
First edition, INSCRIBED BY FAULKS TO HIS PUBLISHER SUE FREESTONE: 'To Sue, The Onlie Begetter, With all thanks & lots of love, Sebastian Faulks'. A collection of literary parodies prompted by the author's frequent appearances on BBC Radio 4's The Write Stuff.
Sue Freestone, publishing director at Heinemann, Hutchinson and Quercus over the course of her career, guided the early -- and then mature -- careers of many authors who became best sellers. As well as Faulks her list included Douglas Adams, Robert Harris and Stephen Fry. She also saw into print the books of political figures, among them Alastair Campbell, Tony Benn and Bill Clinton.
