Heinemann Plays edition. LEO McKERN'S COPY, INSCRIBED BY HIM TO FRONT FREE ENDPAPER: 'Leo McKern. His Booke. The Common Man. His Part.' The play was first published in 1960.

A Man For All Seasons premiered at the Globe Theatre, London, on 1 July 1960, with Paul Scofield as Sir Thomas More and Leo McKern as The Common Man. The play was filmed in 1966, with Scofield again as More, Robert Shaw as Henry VIII, Orson Welles as Cardinal Wolsey, and McKern as Thomas Cromwell (the part he'd played in the Broadway transfer). Directed by Fred Zinnemann, the film was nominated for eight Oscars and won six, including Best Film, Best Director and Best Actor for Scofield.
