GREEN, Michael

The Art Of Coarse Acting

London: Hutchinson, 1964

8vo, pp. 143. Original black boards, lettered in red on spine. Small bookseller's label to front pastedown, slight yellowing to endpapers, otherwise a fine copy in a near fine dustwrapper, a little dusty and with very slight wear to spine ends.

First edition.
Hilarious dismantling of the acting profession which went completely unrivalled until 1988, when the self-obsessed, fictional and entirely true-to-life Nicholas Craig first explored himself in Christopher Douglas' and Nigel Planer's I, An Actor.
Laid in to this copy is a letter from the Curtis Brown literary agency presenting the book to the comedy writer Frank Muir -- a meeting between Green and Muir had thrown up the possiblity of them working together.
An ideal first night gift for those you wish to destroy.
