[pseud. TESSLER, Ernest-Maurice] DEKOBRA, Maurice

The Widow's Might

London: W.H. Allen, 1957

8vo, pp. 198. Original brown boards, lettered in gilt to spine. Illustrated dust jacket. A very good copy in a very good dust jacket, rear panel a little darkened and with some wear to corners.

First edition in English, translated from Les Lotus Dorment La Nuit published in France the previous year. Translated by Sheila O'Callaghan.

Ernest-Maurice Tessler [1885-1973] was a French journalist who, as Maurice Dekobra, became a best-selling writer of fast-moving thrillers set in exotic locations. This one, set in India and featuring rich people getting poisoned, is typical of his work -- and scarce.
